Dear Friends,

This week in deep tech has seen capital flow aggressively into sectors once deemed too capital-intensive, too risky, or too far from commercialization. Investors are betting on companies moving beyond R&D into scalable execution, with a focus on optical semiconductors, AI hardware, and asteroid miningโ€”a broader shift toward enabling technologies that unlock new industrial efficiencies.

The space sector is gaining momentum. The first Australian-built orbital rocket has secured clearance for a March 2025 launch, marking the countryโ€™s return to orbital spaceflight after five decades. Meanwhile, a lunar lander in orbit is days away from attempting a commercial moon landing, testing cost-efficient delivery for NASAโ€™s deep-space logistics.

In energy, scalable baseload renewables are drawing investor interest. A geothermal venture is diversifying assets to lower risk, while a nuclear company is advancing high-temperature reactors for hydrogen and synthetic fuel productionโ€”key to decarbonizing heavy industry.

On the AI and computing front, demand for faster, more efficient processors is rising. A semiconductor startup is bringing RISC-V architecture to AI workloads, while solid-state optical beam steering is enabling next-gen LiDAR, satellite communications, and AI-driven data centers.

One theme is clear: deep techโ€™s winners arenโ€™t just building for the futureโ€”theyโ€™re executing today.
