Dear Friends,
Another Monday, another orchestration of capital—and this week, the music is tight, deliberate, and unmistakably industrial. No frenzy, no flash. Just a quiet accumulation of capabilities designed to endure. If last year was about proving ambition, this quarter is about proving survivability—under stress, at scale, and in systems that won’t flinch when the next black swan lands.
This edition makes that clear. The deals are bigger, yes—but also better scoped. Take Anysphere’s $900M raise: less a moonshot, more a reinforcement of a shift already underway. Code agents are no longer experiments. They are infrastructure. At the same time, Multiverse Computing’s €189M round reminds us that optimization isn’t a cost-cutting exercise—it’s the only way LLMs survive on hardware already stressed by cloud demand. Their quantum-inspired tensor compression could prove as disruptive to model scaling as GPUs were to training.
Further down the stack, Skild AI’s $100M bet on running policy networks on commodity GPUs puts a spotlight on the long tail of automation—industrial workflows that don’t need transformer-scale models, just models that fit. Meanwhile, ZeroRISC and Phoenix Semi are rethinking the laws of the silicon land: one hardening open-source architectures against side-channel exploits, the other pushing reversible logic toward sub-milliwatt inference. Efficiency is no longer a nice-to-have. It’s table stakes.
Robotics moved in parallel, toward specialization, not generalization. Sunrise Robotics emerged with $8.5M and a sim-to-real pipeline that slashes robot cell deployment from weeks to hours. Gecko Robotics, now a unicorn, is climbing verticals—literally—with AI-powered crawlers that fuse ultrasonic testing with defect prediction for high-value assets. And Tebi, in Berlin, is quietly automating hotel logistics, proving that when you control the vertical—linen, food, amenities—you don’t need a humanoid. You need throughput.
The grid, too, is shifting from potential to performance. Fervo Energy’s $206M round puts geothermal back on the critical path—not as a curiosity, but as a dispatchable, AI-aligned asset class. Co-Power’s modular batteries target the grid edge with ISO-container packs that deploy like cloud instances. And Voltfang’s second-life storage shows how EV waste streams become resilient capacity when paired with smart grading and certified reuse.
Space infrastructure kept pace. Muon Space raised $146M to build 500 hyperspectral satellites per year. Quantum Space, with $40M, is turning QS-1 into an in-orbit tugboat, servicing and repositioning satellites like they’re shipping containers. And Look Up’s €57M round brings Ku-band radar into the real-time LEO stack, reducing collision risk with Doppler-speed precision. The orbital economy isn’t speculative anymore—it’s operational, manufacturable, and revenue-backed.
In health and biotech, the pattern held. SpliceBio pulled $135M for split-intron gene therapies—technically complex, clinically ambitious, and squarely aimed at high-burden diseases like Stargardt. Wandercraft’s €75M will bring self-balancing exoskeletons from clinical to consumer use. And Parallel Bio, with just $21M, is building something deceptively radical: human immune systems on a chip, designed to simulate complex immunological responses in silico. Not replacing clinical trials—compressing them.
Meanwhile, dual-use autonomy is turning from niche to normalized. LendurAI in Estonia and Sanlayan in India are both pushing drone swarms into GPS-denied missions—with applications ranging from defense to environmental survey. And Maze, backed by €21.8M, is bringing reinforcement-learning agents into cloud-native cybersecurity stacks. Together, these moves show that when software learns to reason under uncertainty, it earns its seat at the edge.
All of this activity is being met—if not led—by LPs who’ve recalibrated their thesis. Felicis’ $900M Fund X is doubling down on AI and defense-grade resilience. Geodesic Alliance, launched with $250M, is building a bridge between US innovation and Japanese industrial supply chains. And SWEN’s Blue Ocean 2, now at €160M, proves that oceanic impact—once a philanthropic edge case—is now venture-backable at institutional scale.
Integration with optionality. This week’s capital isn’t chasing hype cycles—it’s backing systems that can reconfigure under constraint. Chips that run anywhere. Batteries that ship like software. Agents that learn in the wild. Robots that adapt without retraining. And orbital infrastructure that builds itself, one module at a time.
Keep an eye on three signals worth watching:
Fervo’s Cape Station is approaching major construction milestones this quarter. If its closed-loop geothermal system performs as planned, it could validate a new category of dispatchable, AI-compatible clean energy infrastructure.
Proxima Fusion’s Series A—Europe’s largest private fusion raise to date—adds real momentum behind stellarator designs. With progress on coil automation and stability control, we may see the fusion narrative expand beyond tokamak vs. startup toward a deeper question: geometry vs. controllability.
Quantum Space’s $40M raise signals a turning point for in-orbit servicing. If the QS-1 tug launches on schedule and hits maneuvering targets, it opens the door to modular, serviceable satellite constellations—and a new economic layer in low Earth orbit.
Until then, scroll on for the annotated stack of rounds, fund closes, and signal-rich bets that crossed our radar this week. May the signals help you beat the noise.
See you next Monday — enjoy the read!
